As Children's Ministry Coordinator, I am responsible for the daily functions of the children's program. This includes coordinating and training volunteers, choosing and implementing curriculum, and planning the activities outside the church (ie: Summer Kid's Clubs and Quarterly events).
I am married to my wonderful husband, Chris. We have three kids: Kassie (6), Connor (4), and Chase (2).
BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin (2003) Hookem Horns!! I am also currently working on my Masters of Education in Counseling at the University of Missouri-St Louis, and I'll be graduating in May '09
Genesis, to me, means the great plans God has for us. It has been a place for me to plug in and serve God. It has been a place for new faith for my husband. It is a place where I can bring my children and know that they will grow in the grace of God and get a strong base of God's love and mercy.
"You get out of things what you put into them" - Absolutely no idea who said that!
Um, I am quite possibly one the biggest reading nerds alive. I block out everyone and everything when I am reading. I couldn't possibly narrow it down to A favorite, but I'll try to give you some top ones on my list: Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, the Emperor series by Conn Iggulden, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
I am hard to displease in the movie category...but I have to say to Nicholas Cage, "What were you thinking when you chose to do The Wickerman????" Other than that, The Passion of the Christ was a powerful movie and should be seen by all Christians. Schindler's List had a huge impact on me as well.
Reading; LONGHORN FOOTBALL!!!!; Spending time with my husband and kids
I grew up in St Louis. As a kid I spent most of my time in church, but when I wasn't there I was busy being the Energizer Bunny by playing the bass drum in marching band. Big Geek I know, but it was funny to see me with that big drum on.
My hope for Genesis is for it to be a place of starting fresh for people. A place where they can return to the true relationship with God that he has for us. I hope it will be a place to start kids off right in their knowledge of the Lord and who he is to them. Most of all I hope it will be a place that God is always at the center and that He is proud to call it his church.
