We are already working on plans for our Low Cost Christmas Store in December, an event to help the poor and hurting in our community provide Christmas gifts for their kids. The store will take place on Saturday December 12, but now is our time to get ready so it will be fabulous. To make this event work, we need a full team effort from our church. Every person who is a part of Genesis can help make the Low-Cost Christmas Store as success by doing two things.
First, donate gifts for the store. We need lots of new items for kids from birth to 18. Gifts need to be between $10-30. We need all gifts here by November 29. Second, get on board to help with the event. We need lots of workers. Most people will work on that day, December 12. But we have a few teams who will do their work beforehand. Stop by the Information Table or see Melody Buehrle to find out where you can plug in.
The Eureka City Parks Dept. contacted us and asked if we would be willing to help with a community event they have planned for the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 28. Genesis will be planning and staffing a craft and game room for kids during the event. Parents will bring their children into the room down in Old Town Eureka, and we will provide a craft, a game or two, and a place for kids to decorate cookies. We will have the craft room open from 5-8:30 PM.
Genesis people can help in a couple ways. First, we need a team of three or four people to organize the craft to be made. Second, we need at least five to eight people in the room at all times that evening, so if you can work all or part of the time, let us know.
The city has also asked if we would have a few people to help with clean-up after the event. These people will help from 9-11 PM. If you can help with any of these, contact Mike.
